On transfer weeks, preparation day is on Tuesday here!!! Another transfer will begin tomorrow in the glorious ATM (Arizona Tempe Mission). House Grandview (ward) is losing the courageous Elder Marshall (he must have been very valiant in the pre-existence) to the Mesa zone. In his place, I will have another counterpart. I am yet to learn who the Batman to my Robin will be.  In the meantime, let's recap the week! The focus for me this week was on being a finisher. Finishing the transfer strong. Finishing every street contact with them giving me a definite yes or no on whether we could teach them. It was fun. We worked very hard and saw a lot of good things. One experience that was cool was actually while I was on an exchange in the South Mountain YSA area. We were going down a list of phone numbers that they hadn't been in contact with recently. We probably went through 20 numbers where no one answered or they said they weren't interested. Then we got to the name and number o...

The Mission (the mission), is like an enormous clock (is like an enormous clock), it only works (it only works), if all the little cogs mesh TOGETHER!!! And boy does it work when we are in sync with the spirit. Yeah we gon' testify, came up in the mish feelin extra fly, till the day we die, we gon' touch the sky! There have been some very spirit-filled lessons this week. The work is coming together and gadzooks! our friends are really starting to progress out here in Tempe. Just put one foot in front of the other... In other news, we were weekly planning, and I had a can of Pringles (shoutout Pearsons). I reached in the can and could barely get the Pringles out without roughly pouring them risking getting crumbs all over or more than the desired number of Pringles. Can we please take a moment to think about those unfortunate souls whose hands are just too large to get their own Pringles. As you go about your week, please, think about the frustration and embarrassment it must ca...

How may I put forth the thoughts of my heart with my weak writing?  What could I write, that hasn't been written? I've got it. Scoop ditty whoop, skrrrt, whoop ditty scoop.  Rats. Been a grind week out here. So many lessons fell through, so many people said no... YET WE PERSISTED. We were able to have some very cool contacts and meet some very cool people at the end of the week, but overall we couldn't see the fruits of our labors. However, we don't need to. This is God's work. He is doing it, and it is so awesome to try my best and know God is me using as a tool for righteousness. I. AM. RICHARDSON! Don't ever forget about Sue Bird. #She'dcookuSpida Elder Sheppert

(Read with voice of a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins) The Days of President Goaslind are gone! Long live President Phelps!! (Stop) What is up y'all! This week has been Star Wars 9. Random things happen, (Darth Sidious coming back random) and then we just roll with it and throw all of our life force into the work. It probably hurts to watch when we get shut down by so many people but... it all works out in the end! BIG, BIG shout out to the Pearson family. Sir Jeffrey. Little Laura. Aunt Kathryn. Iykyk People be thinking, "How can you prove that the gospel has been restored?" Me pulling out a Book of Mormon!! We literally have EVIDENCE. Just read and ask God with real intent. It is the best!!! Happy Fourth to you all.  -Elder Sheppert #nolenseglasses

MONSOON SEASON

Image
When it be 112 degrees and dry enough to make you sneak into May Hall to steal some lotion, but then a giant dust storm rolls in in like 2 minutes, followed by rain clouds of epic proportions. Your phone is buzzing like crazy with dust, flood, and storm warnings. And you are the only one on the road going towards the storm. Cars flying past you at warp speed in the opposite direction, but you have a dinner appointment. And you... the Grandview missionaries, would never lose ward trust just because of a mere monsoon! You press forward, frantically downshifting only to find that the wind doesn't care what gear you are in. Your super manly, one strap backpack, (worn like a fanny pack) flings itself to the side of your body... with similar vigor to that of Golem flinging himself towards the ring. The bike creaks and whines, knowing what you have just realized. If only you hadn't eaten that extra pop-tart this morning. You would've been just aerodynamic enough to slice through t...
