A Day In The Life

Woke up, got out of bed Grabbed a Spanish book instead Found my way downtown and then my bike broke Looking up, I noticed I was late But then we had a car, I fell into a dream Yeeaaaaaaah (woozy tunnel sound effects) Yeah, I was on a Spanish exchange this week. I was with Elder Grover, and because he is in his last transfer, he isn't allowed to drive. So I got to clock in my first 70 miles of the mission. Can I just say... I WAS WHIPPING!! I haven't driven in a while, but there is something about the feeling you get driving a Chevy Equanox at 5 miles over the speed limit. What a rush!  Oh and I also got to listen in on a lot of Spanish lessons. Sorry mom, playing all those "Kids Love Spanish" DVD's in the minivan didn't work. I was lost. As I was sitting there, a little penguin in my head named Skipper told me these wise words, "Just smile and wave boy, smile and wave." I did as I was told, and it worked. Elder Grover did the talking, and when they ...

Be excited for this life, we all get a certain chance Happiness is from the focus, and little from circumstance My new comp is great Work the area night and day We grinding for little pay Straight and narrow is the gate, and the way, To eternal life Don't let a chance to share the gospel pass you by! We have a goliath of an area for biking. It's completely radical. There is so much potential here! My companion and I are whitewashing (we are both new to the area), so we are learning a ton every day. It's a lot of fun because the west side is a ton of apartments, and the east side is pretty nice housing, so we got a good mix of people and areas. We also are just surrounded by desert in 3 directions so that is pretty awesome.  I will share a miracle. We were biking home, and we heard a "help." In the rocks a ways from the road, there was an older man lying on the rocks. His legs were scraped up and bleeding. There was another man there who was probably about 30. Appa...

The First Of Lasts From Elder Sheppert

I am leaving the glorious area of Butterfield. Goodbye, Maricopa. When I got to Maricopa, my trainer told me these words, "Maricopa is awesome. There isn't a better place in the world. There are only three problems, and once you get past 'em, it will be fantastic. The service is terrible, the whole city smells of feces every morning, and everyone goes to sleep at 6."  He was right about everything. This last week was very fun. One of our friends builds lot of things and had these light bulb things that had a pressure of 15 bar. Don't drop the hot potato!  I'm headed to a zone called Casa Grande. I am so pumped I could drink skim milk and do orange justice! It's still important to read the Book of Mormon. When we understand the Atonement better we can understand how to use it better. We should all read Alma 7.  The world is 1 person away from being better. Be that person, or be a no good pumpernickel! Старейшина Шепперт There's an old saying, in Texas, ...

"Twas a good week. I know y'all want bars, and they're coming. Just 1.5 weeks from transfers, so 2 weeks till some агон bars. In the meantime, for all you fans of the arts, enjoy this masterfully crafted haiku: (WARNING Lexile level over 9000) The bridge, The yogurt Pedals pushed thrice as hard Wind won't slow the work Let me take you back to last Friday. A church tour scheduled. A friend hoping to learn. An Elder defying the elements.  Elder Stone and I leave our house at 10:10. The church tour begins at 10:45. The church is usually a 22 minute bike ride. Usually... We open the garage door. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. We bike out of the neighborhood and into the open road. In front of us stands a giant bridge, the one we traverse every day to get to our area). The moment we hit the open road, we are attacked in the most vicious manner by an invisible force. I pedal with all my might. The bike moves at 1/3 of the normal speed. My companion and I valiantly ...
