GRETCHKA

Cool Miracle! We have been working with our friend Mike, who has been clean from drugs and alcohol for about 4 months. One night, it was about 8:15 or 8:30, and we felt like we should call Mike. We called him and it was just a normal call for the first 5 minutes.
We were getting ready to close out the call, when he was like, "You know where I am right now?"
"You said you were on the bus."
"Yes, but I was headed to buy some [drugs]. You calling me is a sign from God I need to turn around. I was about to give in."


Pretty cool!!


I had the opportunity to go on an exchange with an Elder who had served in Russia!! The last one in the mission. He is finishing his mission next month. He brought lots of cooking supplies, and made блины с гречкой. Basically some fire crepes with buckwheat and chicken (gretchka)! 'Twas soooo good. Took me back to my mother Russian roots.


We have been working with this AWESOME family; the parents are inactive, and the 3 boys (15,12,10) are not baptized. THEY CAME TO CHURCH!!! They hadn't been in 4 years, and they pulled up. And. They. LOVED IT. Sometimes you have to play hard to win hard, playa!!

The rumors are true. I still buy green bananas, even after all that the prophet has taught. In other news... this is the last week of this part of my mission. I'll be back in the Couve on Friday!  The last few weeks people have asked, "Are you nervous, excited, scared, or what?" I'm really just feeling good! It'll be good to keep grinding, living and sharing the word of Christ. That doesn't change! Paul Was The First Masterbuilder!!

But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon." Be the special! We taught a super cool, extremely spiritual lesson Friday to one of our friends! She is a really nice lady with some adult kids and a husband. She really was seeking peace. We had felt like we should send a reminder text about the lesson to her an hour and a half before the lesson (and thought nothing of it). When we arrived she said she was at work until just a few minutes ago. She was planning to ask to reschedule because she had a lot to get done, but then she got the reminder text from us. She showed it to her boss and said she thought our text was a sign that she needed that lesson. She left work and met with us. We showed her how she can find peace on her own in the scriptures. "Surrounded By Russians"

This was a solid week. I have learned a lot about many different parts of the gospel. My district just got to the in-person MTC today (Wednesday), and it is so sweet!! The people here are so fun, and it is so amazing to work with them in person! I have a very cool story to share.  On my 6 am flight :) from Portland to Salt Lake City today, I was seated on an aisle seat. There was another elder a couple of rows away, so we started talking about where we were going. When I said Dnipro, the man across the aisle from me said with a heavy accent, "You're going to Ukraine!" He proceeded to tell me he was born in Ukraine and grew up in Russia. He was fluent in both Russian and Ukrainian. His family was in the two rows near him. It was so cute to hear his kids say things I could actually understand in Russian.
