"Mother Knows Best (+Bars)"

"Tangled" is becoming a reality out here. While packing for Ukraine, I was like, "Mom, I don't think I'm going to need sunscreen." She said that I'd better bring it. So it was packed in darkest, furthest chasms of my suitcase.

Fast forward to Friday, we were biking in 97 degree heat in March. MOTHER KNOWS BEST!!

I don't speak the language
Mother came in clutch
Comp is smart as Cambridge
Yet we eat bread for lunch

Border Cali and Mexico
The area is lit
Lightning speed like Dinaco
Ka-chow my biking gets

The new area is awesome. My comp is Elder Madsen, and he is awesome. The people we are teaching are awesome. Everything is awesome. Everything is cool when you're part of a team! The area is one of the largest biking areas in the mission. There are lots of people here who only speak Spanish and it's a little sad because I can't communicate with them too well.

We have a giant hill, (the only hill in Yuma) in our area. I have never gone so fast on a bike, nor felt so at the mercy of God. The hill is right next to a huge street with 3 lanes of speeding cars on each side, so... we bomb down the sidewalk. I don't want to exaggerate, but imagine biking in a straight line down Mt. Kilimanjaro, with the end of a few driveways at the bottom. I hit the driveways and my bike and I pop up into the sky. So far, they have remembered to reinforce the takeoff ramps! However, I do not have a PHD in BMX, so I wear a helmet just in case. (We wear helmets always).

Cool story: We met this one guy and set up a return appointment. When we got there, my comp asked me what I thought we should read. I said, "We have a pretty good knowledge of the scriptures. Let's tell him to open to a random page (to show how awesome the Book of Mormon is on every single page) and read that chapter with him and relate it to something he needs to hear." GUYS, he opened to 3 Nephi 11. It was 100% random, and it was 100% God-inspired. There are no coincidences, and 3 Nephi 11 is what we were planning on reading before I put forth my idea. It went so well and he asked us where the church was and when we meet. (Usually, we have to bring that part up!)

The Book of Mormon is a solid read. Go give it some attention. It'll change your life!

Love y'all 3000,
Elder Sheppert
