"The Fast And The Furious"

Hello!


This week we infiltrated the inner ring of the drag racing peoples. Let me rewind to the beginning.


I got to my area, and immediately began to notice something interesting. There are a lot of 2 door fast racing cars. This led me to the question: Why all the fast, expensive cars? 


Many of the houses in our area have their garages open. And many of those people are working on cars. Come to find out, almost all the people I have gotten to know, know everything about cars. 


We went to one kid's house and he was telling us about all the stuff he was doing to trick out his car. And that's when it happened. The Dom Torreto of Maricopa walked outside. He was the brother of the kid we were talking to. Dom showed us his sweet carbon-fibered 2 seat, white BMW with black racing stripes. He told us about how tricked out the car was. He was SO cool. His gold chain glistened in the moonlight as he talked about his illegal tinted windshield. He then let us in on the secret. Many of the cars are owned by young people and they go out drag racing. He knows all the big drivers, and where they live. And he races at an elite level. You think "Fast and Furious" is just a story. No sir.


Don't worry, mom. I promise I will only go out drag racing if my driver promises to come to church the next week. And I will only let them go over 150 if it is before 9:30 pm. 


To let the kids know that drag racing is very dangerous, one of the drivers a couple nights ago flipped his BMW trying to take a turn too fast. It was on the bridge that I bike over every day. Driving is no joke. There are real, dangerous consequences.

The rumors are true. I still buy green bananas, even after all that the prophet has taught. In other news... this is the last week of this part of my mission. Paul Was The First Masterbuilder!!

1 Corinthians 3:10 "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon." Be the special! We taught a super cool, extremely spiritual lesson Friday to one of our friends! She is a really nice lady with some adult kids and a husband. She really was seeking peace. We had felt like we should send a reminder text about the lesson to her an hour and a half before the lesson (and thought nothing of it). When we arrived she said she was at work until just a few minutes ago. She was planning to ask to reschedule because she had a lot to get done, but then she got the reminder text from us. She showed it to her boss and said she thought our text was a sign that she needed that lesson. She left work and met with us. We showed her how she can find peace on her own in the scriptures. "Surrounded By Russians"

This was a solid week. I have learned a lot about many different parts of the gospel. My district just got to the in-person MTC today (Wednesday), and it is so sweet!! The people here are so fun, and it is so amazing to work with them in person! I have a very cool story to share.  On my 6 am flight :) from Portland to Salt Lake City today, I was seated on an aisle seat. There was another elder a couple of rows away, so we started talking about where we were going. When I said Dnipro, the man across the aisle from me said with a heavy accent, "You're going to Ukraine!" He proceeded to tell me he was born in Ukraine and grew up in Russia. He was fluent in both Russian and Ukrainian. His family was in the two rows near him. It was so cute to hear his kids say things I could actually understand in Russian.
