The Grind Is Good

     This week has been awesome!! I have enjoyed a full week at the Provo MTC. The schedule has been PACKED, but still very pleasurable. 



     Russian. It's coming along at a very fast pace. In-person classes have made such a huge difference! My напарник and I have been grinding non-stop and it is paying off. Every morning we wake up at the crack of dawn, and spring out of bed heading for the light. Whoever switches the light on gets a point for the day. I was down 3-1, but don't worry Vancouver, I wasn't going to let my city down. I bounced back to win back-to-back mornings, to tie up the tally. I will let you know how much I am winning by next email.

     In other news, the spirit is so strong here. It's amazing to see what happens when you give up a lot of the good things in your life for great things. I have had the opportunity to go to a couple amazing devotionals, and hear many testimonies. My favorite spiritual experience of the week took place Monday evening. The teacher in charge of the Russian MTC teachers came in and taught us how to bear personal testimonies in Russian. We all went around and gave our own personal and distinct testimonies in Russian (we still aren't able to conjugate verbs, but it was pretty good). The spirit was so strong. I am amazed that my district can all pick up concepts and words so fast and be able to bear testimonies on completely different things with different words. At the end of the testimonies, the teacher bore his testimony and said he saw the gift of tongues working within us (по-русскй). The spirit confirmed this truth in my heart.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here at the MTC.

 


    For those of you who are not members of this church, and for those who do not already have it, I challenge you to download the Book of Mormon app, and start reading. It will change your life for the better. Just read one chapter. Take a moment to reflect on how you feel. I have felt the spirit strongly as I have read the Book of Mormon this week. It has real power.

The rumors are true. I still buy green bananas, even after all that the prophet has taught. In other news... this is the last week of this part of my mission. I'll be back in the Couve on Friday!  The last few weeks people have asked, "Are you nervous, excited, scared, or what?" I'm really just feeling good! It'll be good to keep grinding, living and sharing the word of Christ. That doesn't change! Paul Was The First Masterbuilder!!

1 Corinthians 3:10 "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon." Be the special! We taught a super cool, extremely spiritual lesson Friday to one of our friends! She is a really nice lady with some adult kids and a husband. She really was seeking peace. We had felt like we should send a reminder text about the lesson to her an hour and a half before the lesson (and thought nothing of it). When we arrived she said she was at work until just a few minutes ago. She was planning to ask to reschedule because she had a lot to get done, but then she got the reminder text from us. She showed it to her boss and said she thought our text was a sign that she needed that lesson. She left work and met with us. We showed her how she can find peace on her own in the scriptures. "Surrounded By Russians"

This was a solid week. I have learned a lot about many different parts of the gospel. My district just got to the in-person MTC today (Wednesday), and it is so sweet!! The people here are so fun, and it is so amazing to work with them in person! I have a very cool story to share.  On my 6 am flight :) from Portland to Salt Lake City today, I was seated on an aisle seat. There was another elder a couple of rows away, so we started talking about where we were going. When I said Dnipro, the man across the aisle from me said with a heavy accent, "You're going to Ukraine!" He proceeded to tell me he was born in Ukraine and grew up in Russia. He was fluent in both Russian and Ukrainian. His family was in the two rows near him. It was so cute to hear his kids say things I could actually understand in Russian.
